No.s 5 - 1 WORST FILMS OF 2019

Updated: Jun 15

5. HOBBS AND SHAW

A film so cheesy, my eyes hurt from the amount of I rolled them. I'm all up for dumb action movies but Hobbs and Shaw is ridiculously dumb. Surprisingly the movie looks great, thanks to John Wick director David Leitch. Unfortunately its forced humour, shoddy script and predictable pacing warrants it being on this list.

4. KNIVES OUT

The reviews for this are overwhelming good. The problem is Knives Out isn't as smart as it thinks it is.

Rian Johnson's poor attempt at a whodunnit is pedestrian, boring and devoid of humour. The reveal is way too early and the third act is an absolute joke. This film has been hyped up to the hilt. With an amazing cast I was hyped to see it but unfortunately it's turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of the year. And yes, I still like The Last Jedi.

3. TERMINATOR - DARK FATE

Poor! Failed to rectify the abomination that was Terminator Genisys and poorly utilised the Sarah Connor character, making her a grumpy old sidekick instead of the protagonist we're all familiar with from the first two movies. Dark Fate does entertain but it does nothing to help in terms of story or continuity to warrant a sequel. PLEASE, NO MORE!

2. THE KITCHEN

Boring and an absolute mess. It was

absolute torture watching this.

1. X-MEN - DARK PHOENIX

This film represents everything that has gone wrong with the X-Men franchise since it's reboot. A wasted opportunity to properly adapt one of the greatest comic book stories, ever. A chance to atone for X-Men Apocalypse which failed miserably to rejuvenate the franchise.

This film is so random, the first two acts and the third act feel like two different movies. It's pacing is arduous to sit through, it's edited poorly and its inconsistent tone swings back and forth like a metronome.

FOX really drop the ball with this. As a lifelong X-Men fan I hope the MCU does a better job.
